"How are you involved in preparing for the changes that peak oil, economic instabilty and climate change are bringing, and in creating resilience and sustainable life style in our communities?"
I am an instructor at the ROOTS School in East Calais, where we teach children, teens and adults wilderness skills such as: wildlife tracking, naturalist training and nature awareness, primitive hunting and trapping, wild edible and medicinal plants, flintknapping and stone tool manufacturing, basketry, primitive weapons (bows, arrows, atlatls, bolas, slings, etc), hide tanning, wilderness survival, and more...
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I want to network with others who are being proactive regarding our present day scenario, and the changes that are coming, regardless of how well our communities are prepared.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
We can spread the word to our students at our classes; as well as continue to teach people skills for providing themselves and their community with basic needs, and to facilitate a strong connection to the Earth and an awareness of the overall community of life.
Hey Nick, Glad to see your presence on this website! I believe that it is "a strong connection to Earth" that is the underlying shift that we need. Thanks for teaching the very core and important primitive skills to our community! Best, Annie
