"How are you involved in preparing for the changes that peak oil, economic instabilty and climate change are bringing, and in creating resilience and sustainable life style in our communities?"
Offering alternative heating options for homes and businesses that reduce dependency on oil and energy. I'm inspired by the goals of the Transition movement and the growing community of people involved, concerned, and interested in making change.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I build masonry heaters, wood-fired ovens, and chimneys with a purpose of creating more efficient wood-burning home heating options, utilizing locally available resources (wood, stone, clay, sand, etc.) as much as possible. I agree that there must be changes in the way we live and consume resources, mainly moving toward locally available resources and skills.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I can offer my skills as a mason and some occasional insight, and am willing to join in conversations about the issues in the focus of Transition vermont, especially regarding home heating with masonry heaters, but also about the greater picture. I see localization as a major part of transition, and would like more of my projects to happen closer to home in central Vermont and the Montpelier area.
