FOLKS! VOTE FOR OUR PROJECT!
Colleagues and I have put together a grant proposal that is UP FOR
VOTES for grant money from an organization called Brighter Planet that
will help us get this project underway.
VOTING STARTS NOVEMBER 1 and ends on N...
Every little vote counts in a big way.
We've just posted a project on the Brighter Planet Fund website and every little vote can help Burlington Permaculture win a grant from the website for developing a Community Resource Map.

Come to workshops in Burlington Vt and local areas.
Come be re-skilled. learn the old ways.

"How are you involved in preparing for the changes that peak oil, economic instabilty and climate change are bringing, and in creating resilience and sustainable life style in our communities?"
I've been working with others to actively promote permaculture and other forms of community related sustainability in Burlington. I've yet to get involved with the Transition movement formally but am very keen to help work to organize a Village Building Convergence in Montpelier for 2009
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I think it's vital work that falls directly in line with my own values and life path. I'd like to help our communities start to make changes before the changes start to make us.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I'd happily provide my own services as a designer of ecological landscapes, a purveyor of community enhancement projects and an educator in whatever ways I can.

Hi Mark--George LIsi said I should contact you. I am on the steering committee of the WAlloomsac Transition Forum (near Bennington) and I am the founding co-director of Spirit Hollow, a nature-based spiritual ecology center dedicated to the transformation of consciousness. We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit. We are looking to have a Permaculture training here in the Spring sometime--we have 100 mostly forested acres with streams, a 5,000 sq ft veggie garden and a medicine wheel garden as well as small greenhouse and we have chickens and ducks. We want to incorporate more permaculture into our place and we want to offer our spot for a training. Do you travel to do such trainings (like 2-3 workshop over a weekend) or can you give me the name of someone who does? Thanks so much! www.spirithollow.org

Hey Mark,
Post the newsletters as a blog or a discussion - you have to give dates for an event and it would be a broad range of dates for everything in yr newsletter.
Those newsletters are a great resource. Great to know they'll be posted here!

Mark,
All I can say is Wow! You have a great presentation that will take some time and study to digest. Though I myself am a klutz, my family background comes from wood crafting and carving. my brother Reid has a 30" resaw. I would like to visit your shop.
Hi Mark, The guy to ask about how to post your power point is Les Squires. Here's the link. Thanks for passing on all the great info! Best, Annie

Mark, I wish I could have made it to your Montpelier event. You were on the radio (Carl's show) with a "co-conspirator" of mine, Teresa Allen. We are starting a very modest Food Not Lawns movement in Barre. We have 20 people interested in doing a front-lawn garden and sharing some of the yield with our local food shelf and soup kitchens. Are you available to do specific trainings/talks for smaller groups? And, how are you funded? We have a first meeting on April 22nd in Barre. While this may not be the best time to organize something, perhaps we can talk about another follow-up time in May when you could speak to our group?
Hi Mark, Thanks for such a great and timely presentation last evening at the Library and for your note. I thought you did an excellent job! The capacity crowd of 77 speaks to the interest in Lawn to Garden Conversion. I learned a great deal. Thanks for being willing to share more notes and even your power point with the attendees. Please send it to me as well - I didn't put my email on the list. It's anniemc(at)sover.net. Can you put the power point here on this site as well? That would be awesome. And thanks for being open to my suggestion of talking to the woodchucks. I hope you can take your presentation to as many communities as possible. It's so empowering for folks to be able to turn lawn to garden and contribute to local food security. Maybe the Hardwick Transition group would be interested in your presentation, as well as Worcester and Shelburne. Thank you ao much! Best, Annie
Hi Mark - I saw the financial permaculture event for April 8th listed and I plan to be in town - I am contemplating VT as a relo - I am trying to engage in, and transition to a more sustainable, resilient, conscious community and want to contribute from a small business perspective. I'm a small business entrepreneur who must escape from suburbia(!!) and make a difference. I look forward to attending. Is there any registration?
