I'm not certain where I should put this post. I am searching for a room for 10 days (while my wife is in VT in graduate school) in exchange for farming or other work. I want to work for trustworthy people who love the land. If you know of *anyon...

Thanks for starting this discussion, Jeanne! Being a sort of lazy gardener, I was really excited to learn that there are so many "weeds" that are good to eat and easier to grow than some veggies. I think Annie McCleary is doing a presentation on t...

Thanks for sharing. This seems in line with my vision. It does seem like the kind of thing best learned by doing.

Profile Information

"How are you involved in preparing for the changes that peak oil, economic instabilty and climate change are bringing, and in creating resilience and sustainable life style in our communities?"
My husband is involved with the movement here in Hardwick. I am looking to support these folks through this site.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I am a homesteader and have many skills in this area. I work with people well and would be happy to share such skills.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Mainly through my skills as a teacher, my skills at raising and slaughtering animals, my knowledge of veggie farming and winter storage.

Hey Jeanne, welcome! It's good to see you here.
Thinking about all your skills and your desire to support Hardwick area TT through this site, why not start a discussion or two about practical homestead skills? Maybe start with a basic 'how to' on some subject and then invite questions and discussion. This could lead very naturally to some on-site skill sharing, maybe in the form of getting help with some task/event happening on your homestead anyway?
Cheers! George `
