Planning - vision holding and direction- and will probably turn into Event coordination

This is the main organizing page for the VBC to coordinate.
It will also make connections for the subgroups that fit into their prospective goals.

From Maureen Hurley,
Ideas for 2010

-----A downtown location during the workshop week, maybe at cityhall that is staffed and with fliers. Or maybe just a signboard with the daily shedule and directions, etc. A focal point. Somewhere people could go with questions. Not everyone has a computer. Maybe Food and Music ongoing there. Different kinds.
------I was wondering if we could consider either hyphenating 'Village-building', or
just de-capitalizing ''building'. To help clarify what I heard people say, that they thought it ws just something about Building construction. "Village building Convergence?  Village-building Convergence?  VbC? Makes a different sort of acronym.VB C? VillageBuilding Convergence
----A Logo- that could be the background of every directional sign so that it becomes readily recognized even from a speeding vehicle? Maybe a circle of people in an oval form- busy doing things- or hands upraised like a cheer...Rainbow Colors like the banner. .Another banner so the word can be at two places at once.d
-----Involvement of the arts. Maybe some street theatre promo..  Buskers with fliers-schedule here and there. Maybe could build art like a bus waiting place or op mod booth. Or sculpture-- I've seen large flowers in CA..
One of my favorite things was the 'community ' picnic in the park.

if 4pm Monday works for the other Burlingtonians, it works just fine for me!

Hello all
I can't figure out where the conversation about meeting times was going on but sorry for jumping in late. Monday at 5pm would be great for me (especially if it's in Richmond). Any day later in the week won't work though - I'm out of town for a few weeks. Hope that doesn't complicate things further. Have we reached a consensus on a time?

Feel free to remind me of this! My memory is that you said there would be a bevy of possible presenters planning to be present, and that our job would be largely setting events up with them, rather than much recruiting from 'outside'. Is that accurate? Cheers! George ~

Thanks George,
I know Oliver and will ask him.

Paul, communication is good to hone. We should remember if we want to communicate with whole group to post on front page. I think it's working well now. I have found people who want to hear certain conversations will join that group, otherwise they keep their email box empty, so to speak.
So yes, a little recruitment would be nice.
Gwen thought city hall might be booked by Lost Nation Theater, Will look into it. but she suggested the High School as another location.

'Puter wiz - also check out Douglas Anarino's page - think he mentions setting up websites under 'how can you help' question.

Sounds great.
Two things:
1) Gail and George WILL go to the neighborhoods (CAN) meeting to find potential support. That mtgs not 'til Feb. 11.
2)Computer wiz - talk to Oliver Welters at Rhapsody - he's just getting psyched about TTM and offered his skills in graphics and internet research, etc. Maybe he has the skills we'd need for VBC work?

Sounds great Ben!

I too think City Hall would be a good central venue if it works out.

I don't know a computer wiz off hand, but will keep an ear out.

Anyone have thoughts on the slight communication fragmentation here on the website? I notice there are only four of us signed up right now in the core group, but I know there are a handful of people in the overall VBC group that would be interested in the conversation. I saw Ben had sent out an invitation for more to join the core group, and I suppose that is all we can do - make sure those in the overall group know about the subgroups and how they work. As we further define the roles of various groups, we should probably also discuss how we want cross-communication within the overall group to work as we move forward.

Updates:
I was wondering if City Hall wanted to be our common location? I ask Monica if she thought it was feasible and wanted to coordinate that. Its a possibility at this point.
I also talked with George L. about having TTown coordinate speakers and workshops as a part of TTown Reskilling Program. He seemed psyched. We'll see.
I also talked to Meg at Langdon St Cafe about projects and she said they had a couple of ideas. We should follow up or delegate.
I also talked to Ben at LACE in Barre and he was psyched about a possible project there.
I also talked to one of the directors of Food Works in Montpelier
http://www.tworiverscenter.org/
Potential there.
Gail and George went to the neighborhood meeting to find potential support.
I also talked with Ed Dufresne, our local music bookee and event guru, about helping with music. He said he could do it for cheap.

People are getting on board....

Next Logistical steps:
Finalize dates/place, event scope.
Affirm mission.
Define our roles and focus.
Rock on!

I we should get affirmation from TTown team on their involvement, Gail's report and Monica's response about the City Hall and then I think we should create an agenda for a gathering to move forward on the same foot and try to get more people there to help do things.

Things we need:
Computer wiz to set up a web site and handle registration.
