Transition Towns:
From Oil Dependency to Resilient Communities

Presented by
Naresh Giangrande
co-founder of Transition Town Totnes.
The Transition Town movement has seized the historic opportunity presented by our global challenges to creatively examine the choices we have and choose the future we want. We stand at a cross roads in human history where the choices we make now – about economic growth, energy usage and carbon emissions -will effect generations to come.
This talk will look at what those choices are, and why they are so important; and why the Transition movement offers us solutions to the many problems with energy security, carbon emissions, food, and how we can learn to live with the inevitable changes to the way we live and work.
Naresh Giangrande is the co founder of the first Transition Town in Totnes in the UK. Transition Towns began in September 2006 and has since morphed into a world wide movement with over 100 official Transition Towns, cities, counties, and islands, and several thousand who are considering this model for positive change.
‘Transition Town’ is an inspiring vision and action plan for how a community can transition to an energy lean, carbon constrained, and relocalised future that is abundant, sustainable, pleasurable, and resilient. http://transitiontowns.org/

Plenty of Room, public event, no enrollment required!
Responding to Matt's question below. This event takes place in a beloved community space downstairs at the Unitarian Church. There is ample room for at least 150 people, perhaps 200.
Matt, it's wonderful that you and others from Portland are coming! I feel that now, while travel is still easy, is the time to circulate and make the personal connections between locales that will be so important as transition progresses.
Thank you for making the effort! Look forward to meeting you!

Hi guys,

I'm coming from Maine to attend the event so that I can meet your group and see Naresh speak. I've got about 3 other people who would like to come, is there room for us?

We hope that this joyous event will really get the party rolling for all of Vermont and beyond, not only Montpelier. Naresh is a warm and personable man who speaks with passion and the authority of his continuing participation in the Transitioning of the first Transition Town, Totnes, which he and Rob Hopkins co-founded. Before and after the talk, per se, Naresh will facilitate attendees engaging with the subject matter and each other. Come get real, get energized, and get active! Transition happens! Print out our beautiful flyer from the link at the top of the description and spread the word!
